The police in Nagpur have taken action against thieves and burglars, solving nine cases in two operations and bringing relief to the citizens. In the first operation, two burglars were captured and seven cases were resolved. Additionally, a crackdown has been launched by the city police to address the increasing concerns of vehicle thefts and burglaries. In a recent incident, stolen cash and valuables worth Rs6.54 lakh from Mukesh Nipani's residence in Vaishali Nagar were reported. The crime branch initiated an investigation which led to the apprehension of suspects Ramakant alias Rambhau Shahu (27) and Narendra alias Bali Bokde (23), who confessed to multiple burglaries and vehicle thefts. Stolen items and vehicles valued at Rs9.53 lakh were recovered. The accused, reportedly substance abusers, also had connections to other burglary cases. In a separate incident, three individuals were arrested in connection to vehicle theft cases after an investigation into a bike theft at Jaripatka police station. The arrests were made with the help of CCTV footage and on-ground intelligence.Two stolen vehicles have been recovered, along with the bike used in the crime, valued at a total of Rs1.20 lakh. It is reported that the majority of vehicle thefts take place in busy or market areas of the city. Furthermore, most burglaries occur in the outskirts of the city, within the jurisdiction of police stations such as Hudkeshwar, Wathoda, and Pratap Nagar. Local residents have urged the police to increase night patrolling in order to prevent such incidents. The police have advised citizens to inform their neighbors and respective police stations if they plan to leave the city, allowing for heightened vigilance over their homes by both the police and locals.
